Dionex Corporation Names Lukas Braunschweiler President and Chief Executive Officer

Dionex Corporation today announced that Lukas Braunschweiler, Ph.D. will become its President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 5, 2002. A. Blaine Bowman, who has been serving as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1980, will remain active with the company and will assume the role of Chairman of the Board.
Dr. Braunschweiler joins Dionex from Mettler-Toledo International, Inc. (MTD), where he has served in a number of management roles since 1995. His most recent role has been Group Vice-President and Head of the Laboratory and Packaging Divisions. Previously, he served in other Mettler-Toledo businesses, including the Retail and Industrial Divisions. Prior to 1995, Dr. Braunschweiler served in various management capacities for other companies in Switzerland. He earned a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH, Zurich).

"I am very pleased to welcome Lukas to Dionex," said Mr. Bowman. "Lukas has a good background for our type of business, and has had a wealth of international experience. His management skills and technical experience will be great assets to the Company." Mr. Bowman added, "With Lukas taking over the day-to-day chief executive responsibilities, this will allow me to spend more time focusing on longer- range development opportunities for Dionex."
