Aus der BSB-Bestimmung ist bekannt das Stoffe wie Allythioharnstoff (siehe DIN-EN 1899) oder 2-Chlor-6-(trichlormethyl)-pyridin (siehe US-Standard 5210 B) die Ammoniumoxidation als Nitrifikationshemmer unterbinden.
