Validation of newly developed digital polymerase chain reaction methods

Share:

JRC-scientists have investigated the factors that significantly affect the quantification of nucleic acids by digital PCR (dPCR). Digital PCR is the emerging technique for the detection and quantification of nucleic acids.

This technique has been applied by many research groups within the fields of health diagnostics (e.g. oncology, bacteriology and virology) as well as food/feed analysis (e.g. GMO, allergens testing). Validation of these methods is essential to ensuring that the measurement results are reliable and that the related decisions are taken with confidence. This paper sets a good example for the validation of other dPCR methods as it provides a comprehensive overview of all the aspects that influence the final result.
