Trace level determination of heavy metals in fish for human consumption

Share:

A research paper recently published by Jafari and Sobhanardakani in Current World Environment suggests voltammetry as a viable method for the determination of the heavy metals Cu, Pb, and Zn at trace levels in three different species of freshwater fish.

Contamination of fish for human consuption by heavy metals is a health hazard and an analytical challenge at the same time. While there are competing methods used to determine heavy metals in biological matrices and fish in particular, the authors used anodic stripping voltammetry due to the high sensitivity of this method.
