TA Instruments Acquires BÄHR Thermoanalyse GmbH

TA Instruments today announced the acquisition of BÄHR Thermoanalyse GmbH (Hüllhorst, Germany), a privately held manufacturer of high performance, high temperature thermal analysis systems. Commenting on the acquisition, Terry Kelly, President of TA Instruments said, "This acquisition adds powerful technologies which complement TA Instruments' market leading thermal analysis product line. The combination of TA and BÄHR product lines and the integration into TA's worldwide sales and technical support organizations will benefit scientists who need to characterize the thermophysical properties of high temperature materials."

Key products developed by BÄHR include horizontal, optical, and quenching dilatometer systems that measure thermal expansion to high temperatures with high precision, high temperature viscometers, and high temperature TGA/DTA systems. BÄHR systems provide critical information to researchers that develop materials for use in a wide range of industries including electronics, energy, automotive, and aerospace.

These new technologies, coupled with the recent acquisition of Anter Corporation, establish the company as a leader in the thermal and mechanical characterization of inorganic materials. Mr. Kelly further commented, "There are exciting opportunities to merge patented technologies from TA and BÄHR to produce powerful new systems. Combining our high performance thermal analysis systems with BÄHR dilatometer products and recently acquired Anter flash diffusivity products allow TA Instruments to provide scientists a comprehensive set of tools for characterizing ceramics, metals, glasses, and other inorganic materials."
